When Marcus invited me to photograph the home that he’d built with strong earth-ship design principals & an attention to detail that only an owner builder has the patience for, I was chomping at the bit. Nestled in the Fingal valley and backdropped by some epic cliffs Marcus’s site was an oasis of regeneration & integrated living. Some of my favourite features were the light fittings masterfully crafted & inspired by shark eggs, the composting toilet, and the semi-outdoor shower (for after a surf) that watered the attached greenhouse. Valley’s Hearth is sometimes available for short term accommodation and a sensory feast for those passionate about design, art, architecture, and their tasteful integration.
